Maasai Runners

This short documentary explores the life of Maasai community of Mkuru in Norther Tanzania.

Climate change and strict land regulations affect the lives of the Maasai community of Mkuru, who finds itself constrained in a limited piece of land without sufficient food for their animals. As a consequence, Maasai youth is now pushed to move towards urban areas risking the loss of original traditions. Italian NGO Oikos created an initiative called Mkurun, a 15-km race to raise funds for the Maasai and support them through the current changes. For the first time women and children participate into a complete new activity outside of their daily chores.
